
The Ella Hawes Scholarship was established in memory of Ella Hawes, who was a pioneer in developmentally appropriate early childhood programs. Ella was serving as director of the St. Luke’s United Methodist Church Day School at the time of her death. She was killed in a tragic car accident en route to validate a school pursuing NAEYC accreditation.
The applicant must:
1. Be currently employed in a licensed Methodist (preschool) facility.
2. Provide a letter of intent stating the purpose and need for the scholarship, as well as plans if awarded a scholarship.
3. Provide two letters of professional recommendation. One must be from your past or present supervisor.
Important Information:
•If awarded a scholarship, the applicant will receive a check for the amount awarded.
•Scholarships may be awarded only once per applicant for the CDA, twice for the BA/BS, and up to three times for a master’s degree.
•Scholarship amounts are limited to a maximum of $450.00 per applicant or the amount of fees paid, whichever is the lesser amount.
