Amanda Morgan
Amanda is a native Oregonian who now lives in the Wasatch Front in Utah. After completing a dual major in Elementary and Early Childhood Education, she continued for a MS in Huan Development, focusing on childhood, all at Utah State University.
After many different teaching opportunities in private, public, and migrant schools, she is nwt the mother of four amazing boys. They help her learn something new every day. She says that no classroom assignment was ever as tough as being a mother, and none has ever been as rewarding.
She’s left the classroom for now and is working a flexible part-time gig as a trainer and consultant. She enjoys training parents and teachers through her blog, ecourses and speaking engagements.
Not Just Cute was born while Amanda was doing her graduate work. As a supervising teacher in the child development lab, she and her cohort would often lament when they heard one more student teacher describe an activity on the lesson plan as “cute.”
Cute is not a developmental objective! Our kids deserve so much more than “cute” when it comes to their education.
Not Just Cute became a place to escape Intention Deficit Disorder and come to understand the powerful purposes behind simple things like play.
Amanda thought “what does all of this matter, if no one gets it to the people who are actually down on the floors with the kids? Who will take this research and make it interesting, understandable, and accessible for parents and teachers so that it can really mean something to real kids in rea life?”
And then she decided SHE WOULD! www.notjustcute.com
